IS Internship FOR YOU?
This program is meant to shake up what you think your life and day-to-day is supposed to look like. Whether you want to just get your butt off the couch, or believe you were called to bigger things, you’ll walk out of this experience equipped to be a leader in your own community, confident in who you are, and ready to take on more of life’s adventures. All backed by people who are genuinely rooting for you! Are you ready for it?
-
Q. What will I be learning?
You’ll learn how to build a strong foundation in faith, leadership, and purpose. It’s about figuring out who you are, what you’re made for, and how to live it out—in community, through adventure, and alongside people who are all in, just like you.
-
Q. What does housing look like?
You will be in community-style rooms (think bunkbeds) with your fellow interns (girls with girls and guys with guys). We can’t guarantee that you will be rooming with friends or family if you signed-up together.
-
Q. Do I need to bring/buy my own sufboard?
We have Wavestorms for beginner use available for all interns, if you are a higher-skill surfer we recommend bringing your own board, or buying one when arriving.
-
Q. Is food included in the cost?
Food is not included! You will need to purchase your own groceries to use in your provided kitchens, or dine out.
-
Q. What about transportation?
During program-run events transportation will be provided with STN vehicles. Anything outside of the program is not included. There is a good bus system around the island that can be utilized, or many interns go in together on purchasing or renting a car to use for their time here.
-
Q. How do I get to the island/base?
You will fly in and out of HNL (Honolulu International Airport), and our staff will be there to bring you to our base! Then when its all over, we’ll drop you back off and the airport and say our goodbyes!
Hear It From Them!
"Back home people tend to live day to day not paying attention to the people around them. I'm not even sure if I know the neighbors a couple houses down to be completely honest. Coming to stn was a big change for me. Living in a community where people know the homeless by name and seek to bless them. People running across the street to buy someone a meal. Someone spontaneously praying over you and encouraging and speaking life into you. It's all really cool to be a part of."
"I didn't initially plan to stay for Internship, but through making friends and being encouraged by staff I decided to stick around. I can't thank those people enough. Not only have I walked away from Internship with some amazing people that will be with me the rest of my life, but I also was completely shaken in what seemed like simple concepts that transformed the way I view everything. Things like generosity and thankfulness, that I thought I had an understanding of, to hear them radicalized through a true Christ-perspective - and then to see it played out. Teaching is a huge aspect of Internship but what sticks out is when they immediately ask you to put it into play. STN isn't a place that wants things to land of deaf ears, but to walk away transformed, living a life truly outside of the box. To dream bigger for yourself and partner with God in ways you would have never expected. I've been to the Christian camps and the Christian college, but no one is doing it like this in my opinion."
